Kelly’s Blog:

TIME is speeding up again. The pandemic gave us a strange and necessary glimpse of who and what was important in our lives. Many of us had extended time to spend with those we love while others were separated. Truly the world will never be the same again for humans. The old structures in our world are disintegrating and the new structure is not yet in place. Social and political extremes are the norm. Technology is exploding and it feels as though we are on the precipice of something huge. There are so many issues seeking resolution and solution is not quite visible. This can create RESISTANCE to aligning with the new energy. We are learning to live in peace with paradox by letting go of our judgements, our wounding, and finding happiness even within what we cannot change…. quite yet.

Hello! This is my first blog. I woke up this morning thinking about change and the difficulty most of us have moving forward on our dreams. We often wait for some imagined perfect timing before acting on a plan. All of our ducks must be in a row before we take action. The universe is watching and waiting to see if we are serious about our desires. The moment we actually take action on our desires the universe takes note and the path becomes clearer with every step forward. The universe begins sending gifts of opportunity that assist us toward manifesting what we desire. The lesson of all of this is do not wait to take a step forward any step at all is better than waiting. Before you know it you will turn around one day and see how far you’ve come.

Women’s Appalachian Broomcraft Workshop

September 08, 2026

Women’s Appalachian Broomcraft Workshop September 24-27

We welcome back our facilitator, Nam Joti Kaur Khalsa. Brooms are not only a symbol of cleansing but also of protection and power throughout time and place; especially amongst women. Join us for a broom making workshop where we will gather as a Circle of Women to weave both a hand whisk and a full sized handled broom. Our time will be spent in ceremony, ritual and storytelling like so many women who came before. A purification lodge to activate our new brooms and whisks is optional! For more details and to register visit our calendar. To rsvp contact Kelly. We need 6 more women to register for this weekend to happen. We will offer free lodging to those women that can refer a new participant!

Day of the Dead Costume Fiesta Dance & Potluck October 31

Our Day of the Dead Ecstatic Dance is a celebration of life and our loved ones who are no longer with us.  This celebration began in the Aztec, Toltec, and Nahua cultures thousands of years ago when mourning was considered disrespectful.  Death can represent freedom from physical suffering and is part of the process of life.  We are birthed from the spirit realm and we return to it when our physical body dies.  In Appalachia we have “Decoration Day” when families come together in cemeteries where their loved ones are buried.  It’s a time of family reunion, decorating the graves with flowers, and often sharing food.  Honoring our ancestors by celebrating them teaches us a more joyful perspective of the human journey that is “life” and prepares us for the day we too become spirits!

  • Day of the Dead Costumes encouraged!

  • Large Altar set up for you to bring flowers, candles, spirit food offering, and pictures of your loved ones.

Winter Solstice Purification Lodge & Potluck December 20, 2026

Join us for the last gathering of 2026 at Spirit Canoe Lodge! Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year and a time to slow down our pace. It’s been quite a year and we are all ready to be tucked into winter’s cozy introspective season and stop the external busyness. As nature pulls back we too are urged to pull our energy within. Time is precious and healing. When we align with the seasons, life makes more sense. Potluck gathering post ceremony.

There is no charge for the ceremony.  Donations or an energy exchange for Kelly and the fire crew are a necessary part of participation.  RSVP to reserve your spot!
