Broomcrat Weaving Circle with Nam Joti Kaur Khalsa

Brooms are a symbol of protection and power throughout time and place; especially amongst women. Join us for a broom making workshop where we will gather as a Circle of Women to weave both a hand whisk and a full sized handled broom. Our time will be spent in ceremony, ritual and storytelling like so many women who came before.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AGENDA, FEES, AND LOGISTICS COMING SOON!

LODGING is available at Spirit Canoe Lodge. BOOK LODGING: Kelly

NAM JOTI KAUR KHALSA

Nam Joti Kaur Khalsa has been a weaver since 2016. While she is primarily trained in traditional Appalachian broom making, Nam Joti has also developed her own unique style over the years. She specializes in both functional sweepers as well as symbolic and ceremonial pieces. Nam Joti is passionate about bridging the gap between Old World traditions and modern day living. Her work is a form of Functional Folk Art, rooted in practical application and ancient spirituality. She is not only a weaver of brooms, but also of baskets and heirloom dolls.

“Brooms are more to me than sweepers. More than art pieces and ceremonial objects. They are my Ancestors, speaking to me in a language I can receive. They are me.” ~Nam Joti Kaur Khalsa
