It is with great delight that I come to North Carolina to share with Kelly, Spirit Canoe Lodge, and each of you, one of my passions and delights - drumming and singing. From a child, I have been mesmerized by rhythm and have always sung, to the trees and flowers, as well as in choirs and devotionally.
In the Twisted Hairs Lineage, we speak of the drum as holding the heartbeat of the planet and the people. Remember the time in the womb, the song of our mother’s own heartbeat. This soothing rhythm is the gift of the drum that we will come together to share.
In our time together we will explore many things: • Rhythm in our own bodies • How to use a beater and play on a Pow Wow drum with each other • Hand signals for drumming together on a pow wow drum • Singing - how to hear a tune and potentially duplicate it correctly • How to understand your own range and what you can sing. What to do if a song is out of yourrange. • Learning several gathering songs • Learning how to lead songs • Creating practices for yourself at home after the workshop • Creating practices together to create your own drum team
Cost $45 We will share a Potluck lunch together, and dinner in town for those who would like to visit afterwards. To register contact Kelly: Spiritcanoelodge@gmail.com 336-385-6312 Cell: 818-620-3937
Information on the best style of drum beaters will be sent to those that register.
