You will be provided with everything you need to build your own 16” Deer rawhide hand drum as well as the materials needed to build your drum beater. We'll all build our drums together as a community, Don will be building one with you so you can see the process.
The Deer hide drum heads and lacing are all natural (not processed, treated, bleached or dyed) and may be light or dark colored, have scarring or marks, different shading and patterning. Each hide will be unique and will reflect the life and story of the Deer it came from. The round frames provided are made with Maple and Birch and will be sanded and ready to work with. Being a caretaker of your drum and working with its voice will also be covered in this workshop. Please note that once the drums are complete they will take 48 to 72 hours to dry and find their voice before they can be played.
Cost: $250 ($200 deposit is required to reserve your space.)
Early Bird Special: $225 - pay in full before February 21st for discounted price.

FACILITATOR
Don Thiede began training as a Core Shamanic Practitioner over 4 years ago with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. It was through these teachings and trainings that he learned how to journey with the use of a drum to connect with guides, allies, and spirit helpers. Guided by them he set off on a personal journey to learn to build drums and other tools, while along the way he learned about the alchemy of building these tools. Last year Don began to offer drum and rattle building workshops to the community to help guide others through the building process and share his love and passion of making these sacred tools.
